Mommy & Me Minis – {Cambridge, ON}

Last weekend, we celebrated Mother’s Day!

We had originally planned to have our sessions outdoors in beautiful downtown Galt. But after checking the weather DAILY and seeing no improvement in the weather forecast (90% chance of rain, winds up to 42 km/hr , temperature of -2),  I opted to have the sessions indoors. But where? It was 2 days before our Mommy and Me sessions and I had to think fast. Where could I find a place where we would be surrounded by the most beautiful flowers and green leaves – anddd stay warm and dry?

I knew just the place!  Gardenland Garden Centre on Hespeler Rd. (Cambridge, ON).

I immediately headed there and was welcomed by Sabine (C-Sabine: Urban Garden Boutique). Sabine and her knowledgeable staff were so welcoming as soon as I arrived.

Sabine showed me around the centre and into the greenhouse. And there I stopped right in my tracks. Taken aback by all the beauty surrounding us. The bright vivid colours in the flower arrangements hanging above us, to the rows of tables displaying a variety of stunning annuals, perennials, and shrubs. Gardenland Garden Centre has so much to offer. I was in my happy place.

Thank you Sabine & Mark for making us feel so welcome. And Hillary & Isabel were a wonderful help too! I will be back soon to pick up some more fresh flowers and veggie plants.

Here are some of my favourites from all my mommy sessions. It was so nice meeting everyone! Thank you for choosing me to capture these special moments.

Enjoy 🙂

Reisha & Wayne – {Hamilton, ON}

Back in my college days, what felt like many years ago, I worked part-time as a receptionist at a popular gym in Hamilton. What I loved most about that job (besides my free gym membership) was the friendships I made while working there.

One of those friendships was with the beautiful Reisha. You know when you meet someone for the first time and you just connect. She’s a genuine, down-to-earth woman. Not to mention DROP DEAD GORGEOUS with a heart of gold. It had been so many years since we’d last seen each other. 7 years to be exact.

So to my surprise when I received a text message from Reisha asking if I could take photos of her and her fiancé, Wayne, I was thrilled! I would get a chance to see her again and catch up after so many years and meet the love of her life. Our initial conversation, we discussed details of location, time and date, etc. But there was one special request she had for me. Reisha had some very special news she wanted to share to Wayne – which you’ll soon find out.

In order to pull it off, Reisha had Wayne believe our session was an engagement shoot.

But little did he know, there was a special surprise waiting for him….

We started our session at a restaurant called Salt Lick Smokehouse in Hamilton where Reisha and Wayne had their first date. Having been away from Hamilton for so many years, I wasn’t aware of all the changes that were happening downtown. Amazing changes actually. I just love all the new popular, up-and-coming restaurants and boutiques. Just what downtown Hamilton needed.

And Salt Lick on James Street did not disappoint. It just has so much character.  If you’re a meat lover, this place is definitely for you!!

As soon as I pulled up to this place, I quickly realized this used to be the old Atlantic Fish market where my family would go to buy groceries when I was just a little girl. Nostalgia has hit me hard. I love that they have kept some details of the old fish market in their restaurant. Like the Atlantic Fish sign that hangs proudly inside  above the window.

Fast forward 25 years later, we’re here taking photos of our beautiful couple Reisha and Wayne. Craziness!

As I’m photographing Reisha and Wayne, I can’t help but love every minute of our session. It makes me happy to see two people in love. Reisha and Wayne compliment each other so very well! Anyone could feel the admiration they have for one another. I’d see it in the way Wayne would gently hold her hand and Reisha gaze into his eyes. This relationship will stand the test of time.

Then, we had a little bit of a sweet tooth so we headed down the street to Chocolat on James.

Chocolat on James – WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with an aroma of delicious, chocolatey goodness. I was in heaven!

And now for the best part!

To reveal our surprise, I asked both Reisha and Wayne to sit across from each other and write something that they love about one another.

The news? They’re having a baby!!

And when it was time to reveal what each of them wrote, Wayne’s reaction was PRICELESS!

So many happy tears!

Easter Mini Sessions {Cambridge, ON}

If I could describe our Easter Mini sessions in 3 words, I’d say it was
1) FUN,   2) Adorable  and   3) … Messy?
Lol… Let take you back to our fun-filled weekend.

Our Easter Mini Sessions took place on March 25 and 26. Weeks leading up to our sessions, I was busy brainstorming ideas for our two day event and creating our sets. Oh! The FUN I had planning these mini sessions!!

Our set was decorated with a beautiful rustic orange couch with floral print Easter themed pillows from Pier 1 Imports to match.  I found some really cute signs and accessories from one of my favourite stores Michaels. And other pieces were hand made by me.

But our mini sessions would not have been complete without a real, live bunny and baby chicks.

Located outside St. George, a short 5 minute drive from our home studio, we picked up a very soft, brown spotted bunny named Waba and 3 baby chicks from a hobby farm (Pilkington Acres).  Waba was the sweetest bunny with children. Our baby chicks were wonderful too. Although at times, things did get a little messy as I mentioned. Haha. With a few pooping accidents here and there, I was lucky to have my gentle animal handler Marco close by to assist in clean up while I photographed our adorable little clients.  My favourite moments were capturing each child interact with these beautiful creatures.  I was just thrilled to have been able to include them.

***Disclosure: No animals were hurt during our sessions and were safely returned and unharmed to their home. ***

I will be honest though, I may have shed a tear or two when I departed these little guys. Still feeling a little separation anxiety. Thank you Pilkington Family for trusting me with your babies.

Thank you to all the families who visited. Some even travelled as far as Toronto. I am truly lucky to have met really awesome people as well as welcome back friends who have visited in the past! As someone who is just starting out in the photography industry, I’m truly honoured you’ve chosen me to capture these special moments of your children.

Hope you had a wonderful Easter and hope to see you all again soon!

Bailey {Cambridge, ON}

When my client Brian asked if I could take photos of his new “puppy” Bailey and the kids before she grows into a full grown dog, I immediately accepted!

Because HELLO lol… I love dogs!

On the day of our session, I was expecting to see a miniature dog at my door as the one I had seen in a photo from Brian. Instead, I was greeted with a fairly BIG, cuddly,
super sweet, super soft, poodle! I fell in love instantly. Boy, do they grow fast in their first couple months. Bailey was a joy to work with. And the kids just love her!

As you could imagine, I had THEE best time photographing Bailey and his family!

Thanks guys for stopping by!
Cannot wait for our next session! 🙂

My personal favourite. Bailey wearing a princess crown.

Remember how I mentioned I thought Bailey was a small dog… Well, I totally underestimated the size of the crown. lol. Still, Bailey wore it proudly.

And one of me and Bailey! I couldn’t resist 🙂

Thanks guys!

Baby Cylus Miguel – {Newborn}

I love photography. All types.Weddings, landscape, wildlife, fashion. You name it. I love it. But I have to say above all, my most favourite part of my job is working with children – especially newborns.

So naturally I was in heaven when I had the opportunity to photograph baby Cylus Miguel. Over-the-moon excited!! I ensured our space was nice and warm for him.
Just 6 days old, Cylus was a joy to photograph. And Mom and dad did great too.

Here are some photos from our session. Congrats Brittney & Derrick! He’s beautiful!

Cylus was born on Valentine’s Day so you know, we just HAD to do something cute.

A sweet, little, Hershey kiss!

Whose craving chocolate now?!
